Bees and Wasps

Bees and Wasps are known as beneficial insects. Wasps prey on small insect pests such as cockroaches, while honeybees pollinate flowers and produce honey that humans harvest and enjoy. They carry a venomous sting that can be very painful and may cause extreme allergic reactions in some people. However they are usually defensive and will only attack if their nest is disturbed.

A colony of bees has one queen, thousands of workers and a number of male drones. Workers bees collect nectar and maintain the nest. Their food consists of pollen and nectar from flowers, which also feeds the larvae. Bees are very helpful in pollinating plants and crops.

Some honeybee colonies can live for several years in a protected space. When young queens have hatched in the nest, the old queen gathers up to half of the colony and swarms. They can suddenly appear on your wall but it is no cause for alarm as they are peaceful and merely looking for a new home!

Anticimex exterminates wasps or hornets, but is now also able to humanely relocate bees to several apiaries located around Singapore. If you wish to remove bees without killing them, contact us here.
